Seth Godin

Seth Godin is the author of the most read marketing books, an entrepreneur, a marketer, and a teacher. Seth started his entrepreneurial path in 1986 when he founded the book packaging business Seth Godin Productions with $20.000, money he had from his personal savings. While working to grow his business, Seth met Mark Hurst and they founded Yoyodyne, the first direct marketing agency. Yoyodyne was launched in 1995 and used contests, online games, and scavenger hunts to market companies to participating users. Seth sold Seth Godin Productions to his employees to focus on Yoyodyne. In 1998, Yoyodyne was acquired by Yahoo! For $30 million and Seth became Yahoo’s vice president of direct marketing. In 2002, Godin launched his personal blog and has written over 7.000 posts by now. Another project founded by Seth is altMBA, a 4-week intensive program designed for those who want to become leaders and game changers. We've interviewed a few of those leaders on The CEO Library, you can see here a list of our book-talks. To this moment, Godin is the only person that was inducted into the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame & into the Marketing Hall of Fame as well. Seth has published 19 bestselling books, some of the most known titles being 'Linchpin', 'Tribes', 'The Dip', and 'Purple Cow'. His books have helped people all around the world with their business tactics, inspiring them, and know when to stick and when to quit. In 2018, Godin started a podcast named Akimbo, about “our culture and about how we can change it. About seeing what's happening and choosing to do something.” His new book, 'This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn to See', also came out in 2018.
