Dan Harris

Dan Harris is an American author, journalist, TV anchor, correspondent for ABC News, podcaster and author of two books about the benefits of meditation: “10% Happier” and “Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics“.

Dan began has been with ABC News as a TV anchor since 2000. Throughout his career, he reported many incidents such as shootings in the USA and on combat wars in Afghanistan, Israel or Gaza.

In 2004, Harris had a nationally televised panic attack, on the set of ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’, watched by millions of viewers. That’s when he knew he had to make some changes and became more interested in meditation and mental health, started reading a lot on the subject and interviewing professionals, spiritual leaders or self-help gurus, including Eckhart Tolle and Sam Harris (they’re unrelated).

In 2014, Dan released 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Really Works – a True Story, a book that’s part memoir, part introduction to meditation, where he shares his own life story, how he became interested in meditation and mindfulness, and how it transformed his life.

In 2017, Dan co-authored another book on the subject, “Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics”, where he examines more myths and scientific research related to meditation, spirituality, and gives practical advice on how to start meditating – from the point of view of someone who’s always been a nonbeliever.

He also launched an app called “Ten Percent Happier“, with mindfulness courses for other skeptics who want to learn how to meditate.
